Stage One of the 2012 Tour of Britain saw 100 of the world’s top cyclists on a 200 kilometre route through Suffolk and Norfolk.
What a great opportunity to see some of the world’s top riders competing right here on our doorstep, against such amazing landscapes as they rode through villages and coastal towns.

Today saw the Olympic torch pass through Aldeburgh. Crag path was a mass of union jacks waved by hundreds of local children as the torch passed before continuing into the high street. The sun shone after a heavy downpour a few minutes earlier!
Today is the day to celebrate Aldeburgh’s Independent shops and businesses and make the most of the special offers, discounts and masterclasses on offer. Enjoy the music and festivities whilst getting to know the shop owners on the high street. Thank you to everyone who attended my masterclass outside the gallery and hope you came away with some top tips and new techniques. A big thank you to Claire and Sue and the ABA for making today possible.
Well, it’s been a busy few weeks at the apiary, what with queen cells galore and swarms disappearing. However, the highlight was witnessing a virgin queen hatching before my eyes and capturing the moment through the lens. I was in the process of creating a new colony within a nucleus box (small hive). As I removed the sealed queen cell from a larger colony to place in the nuc box I could feel her scratching away inside the cell and new she would be emerging very soon. A few minutes later a beautiful virgin queen bee was born.

What a day at sea yesterday – Good to be back on dry land!
The Aldeburgh RNLI all-weather lifeboat Freddie Cooper was launch at 10.50am, in severe weather conditions, to assist a 13 metre Dutch yacht, with 4 people on board, which had lost its rudder.
